How Orpheum Park Came About – Thinking Outside of the Box – Listen on any device, CLICK PLAY
Question: All right, now you got to tell me about the Dane Arnold phone call on Orpheum Park. You saw something, you called him, you said, hey, can we do this here?
Answer: Yeah, it was with the fountain for sure. That was the first part. Before we had the tree there that had died, and it was really just a space that it was underutilized. And it’s one of those things that you have to have that almost out-of-the-box vision with it and be like, all right, let’s sit down, let’s get to what’s unattainable, and then meet in the middle to the attainable. And we talked about everything from swings to vines on the fence that was there to everything in between. And then we’re like, you know what would look nice? A raised flower bed, but let’s put something in the middle, let’s do a fountain to add some type of water feature to it. And that’s been one of the beautification efforts we’ve made in the downtown, that’s one that we get compliments on weekly, even to this day, and it’s been there for three years now.
