This is the text from what Gardner Mayor Michael Nicholson said about the American Flag in that interview, “You know it’s just one of those things that you take pride in here, the flag means a lot to a lot of people. You know, for families who have moved to the United States, that’s a symbol of hope that they had , that they were gonna get a better life when they came here, for families of veterans who fought for our freedoms that’s a reminder of the sacrifices their families went through , so that people who they never met and never will meet and never know their name or see their face could have a better life and continue to live in the way that we live. For some people , it’s a reminder of why we have the type of government that we have set up, where we have a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and I think that that’s something that we should always take pride in and make sure that we’re honoring here in Gardner.”
